Background

(A Work in progress.)Born to a wealthy family in Ishgard, he spent his young life oblivious to the horror that crept within the city he dwelled within, ignorant to the life his mother and father led. It is that life his parents led that brought horror to young Abaddon's doorstep as occultists stormed into the Bloodmoon Manor and murdered everyone. Little Abaddon would have met the same fate it not for the courageous last actions of his older sister, hiding him away in a secret compartment and making him swear not to make a sound no matter what he heard or saw.Dawn breaks and the occultists have been gone for sometime. Abaddon didn't sleep, he couldn't sleep, not with the horrific sounds of his sister being tortured and slowly murdered fresh within his mind. The boy swears revenge and to protect those he cares for. For years, he has bounced from family members homes as he became difficult to deal with or the rumors of his family and their dark dealings push poor Abaddon away for someone else to deal with.As a young adult, he witnesses the cruelty that plagues his city. The young Abaddon decides to step up and try to make a difference. With out training, or the knowledge, his first attempt almost ended up being his last, until a mysterious figure saves him from death. A Dark Knight, he'd only heard of them in stories, but there was one, standing before him. The mysterious figure offers a hand, then gives the boy a choice, "Forget what has transpired and go home, or follow my footsteps and dive deeper into the darkness..." The choice felt like a calling and there was almost no hesitation.Under the apprenticeship of a veteran Dark Knight, he learns all he can. Pouring his heart and soul into this new life, he tried his best to be the best only to fail yet again. This time, a young life was lost and it was Abaddon who could not protect those he swore to. Grief hit Abaddon, abandoning this life to return to his family home, now for years it has been abandoned, filled with dust, cobwebs and haunted memories of the past. The air felt thick, heavy as he felt a pull to go deeper into the home, down into the wine cellar. No one knows what happened down there, but the young man that went in, frail and broken, returns strong and fierce. So begins the story of Abaddon Bloodmoon, The Devil of Ishgard. Abaddon, for decades at a time would hunt the midnight streets of Ishgard. His hunger sought out everyone from the High Priests and Lord of High Houses to the low thugs of Brume. With this new power, he hunted in numbers that shocked the very communities he hunted in, earning him the name, The Devil of Ishgard, as his slayings were so savage and brutal, the city thought a Voidsent actually haunted their streets and alleys, they weren't far off.Every decade or two, Abaddon would fade into the shadows and disappear, changing his life and even where he lives to find new hunting grounds and to start a new life. Eventually he will have his life turned around just as most of his humanity was about to be drained from him, it would be two innocent little Miqo'te that give him back hope for living and in people. Taking on the life of a priest, Abaddon hid within an orphanage near Limsa Lominsa, that is where he met both I'lydia and S'eidr, the two children quickly grew on him, and though it was wrong for him to hold any child above any other, those two quickly became his favorites, even though S'eidr wasn't part of the orphanage, he would take her under his care along with I'lydia and usually spoil them rotten whenever he got the chance. The peaceful life would come to a horrific end, when one day, Abaddon was sent into the city for supplies. The trip usually took all day and he would not return until later in the night. Abaddon, as usual, bought gifts for his two favorite sister-like Miqos. As Abaddon drove the Chocobo-drawn cart closer to the orphanage, he could see a dim, orange glow in the distance as the scent of fire, blood and fear hit him. Finally breaking his disguise, he'd make his way to the orphanage, only to find that he was far too late. Bandits struck and had not only robbed but murdered everyone. He fell into grief immediately, shock taking over as he realized he failed again and failed to protect so many innocent lives, failed to protect I'lydia, he just hoped that S'eidr was not present during the attack. A few remaining bandits stumble upon a grieving priest and they pounce, savagely beating Abaddon, before torturing him. Abaddon could have broken free and tore apart these thugs, he’s face against far worse, but he didn’t want to, he’d given in and wanted to die.Abaddon awakens to a colder, emptier world. The bandits could not end him, and for the next decade, he would throw himself into revenge hunts going after every single bandit involved with the raid that took I’lydia and S’eidr from him. Abaddon swore to keep away from people, for attachments only resulted in loved ones paying a price he should have paid.Years pass and all but a few of the bandits remain, using every one of the bandits as work of art, each execution done so more brutal than the last. The hunts lead to Limsa Lominsa, tracking leads within the fish market, when he is struck from a ghost from the past. His eyes could not believe what he was seeing. How could he be sure, that it was a grown I’lydia? He follows her, but does not confront her, not until he can be sure. Even if he remebers her, she may not remember him. Days later, he approaches her, seemingly out of nowhere, masked and a mystery.Discord: Mordare#6148
